Include several of them in the same .c file (as I currently have in some code I am working on), and the compile will blow up with a "warning: "TRACE_INCLUDE_FILE" redefined #define TRACE_INCLUDE_FILE syscalls" Every other include file in include/trace/events/ avoids that issue by having a #undef TRACE_INCLUDE_FILE before the #define; syscalls.h should have one, too. Also add some temporary code so that we can set the lazytime mount option without needing a modified /sbin/mount program which can set MS_LAZYTIME. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add a new mount option which enables a new "lazytime" mode. This mode causes atime, mtime, and ctime updates to only be made to the in-memory version of the inode. The on-disk times will only get updated when (a) if the inode needs to be updated for some non-time related change, (b) if userspace calls fsync(), syncfs() or sync(), or (c) just before an undeleted inode is evicted from memory. This is OK according to POSIX because there are no guarantees after a crash unless userspace explicitly requests via a fsync(2) call. For workloads which feature a large number of random write to a preallocated file, the lazytime mount option significantly reduces writes to the inode table. The repeated 4k writes to a single block will result in undesirable stress on flash devices and SMR disk drives. Even on conventional HDD's, the repeated writes to the inode table block will trigger Adjacent Track Interference (ATI) remediation latencies, which very negatively impact long tail latencies --- which is a very big deal for web serving tiers (for example). (write db file) * n 4. ioctl commit atomic write 5. close db file With this flow we can avoid file becoming corrupted when abnormal power cut, because we hold data of transaction in referenced pages linked in inmem_pages list of inode, but without setting them dirty, so these data won't be persisted unless we commit them in step 4. But we should still hold journal db file in memory by using volatile write, because our semantics of 'atomic write support' is incomplete, in step 4, we could fail to submit all dirty data of transaction, once partial dirty data was committed in storage, then after a checkpoint & abnormal power-cut, db file will be corrupted forever. So this patch tries to improve atomic write flow by adding a revoking flow, once inner error occurs in committing, this gives another chance to try to revoke these partial submitted data of current transaction, it makes committing operation more like aotmical one. If we're not lucky, once revoking operation was failed, EAGAIN will be reported to user for suggesting doing the recovery with held journal file, or retrying current transaction again.
